Lip-smacking Lavish Lunch at Darjeeling House, Ramada Darjeeling
This casual joint near Rohini Tea Garden certainly calls for a snack break while your journey towards Darjeeling from NJP. We stopped our car here because of one more reason – to enjoy the scenic beauty of Sukna plains and Rohini Khola while sipping in our tea or coffee. Ur’s Desire Cuisine is a 20 seater small joint with a clear view over Rohini Khola. We have order two types momos along with our tea and coffees, the old aunty (may be the owner) said we have to wait for 15 minutes. Nonetheless, it worth waiting as the view from your table is splendid.

Pork Momo
I love everything about this Pork Momo — it has the right amount of salt and spices, but just a little drier than normal, and the accompanying bright red chilli sauce dip is marvelous. Each mouthful of Pork Momo warms not only your belly, but your heart as well! You can really taste the effort that the old aunty put in!

Describing Taste and Flavor :
Gunkan Maki and Ahi Nigiri
The menu is gently Japanese-influenced, with the occasional use of ingredients like miso, shiitake, and shiso. Start the evening by loading up Gunkan Maki and Ahi Nigiri, a slightly naughty rendition of the classic with the inclusion of juicy ebi, while wasabi and onion sprouts provide a spicy bite. This is almost quite literally a stairway to heaven for Sushi lovers.
Grilled Chicken
Of all the grilled sea fish choices, tuna is the closest to a piece of grilled meat. It has a beautiful ruby color that looks like steak, and its meaty texture is perfect for the high-heat of the grill. Since, it’s meaty texture not only make it easy to handle on a grill, but also works well with so many marinades and sauce. Follow this with the Grilled Whole Squid that’s first sous vide to obtain tenderness, charred for a smoky flavour and served with burnt onion and oyster leaf.
Teppanyaki of Marlin Fish
At Aonang Buffet Restaurant, a delicate filet of Teppanyaki of Marlin Fish served with crunchy squid-ink snowflakes and bathed in a coconut sauce good enough that I wanted to lick the plate. The Marlin might require a temporary break from that diet of yours. The incredibly tender slab of Roasted Pork in Onion and Garlic Sauce with a top layer of melt-in-your-mouth fat will leave you helpless!

Lip-smacking BBQ Buffet at Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort, Krabi
Patong is Phuket’s most popular and famous beach holiday destination with its long white sandy beach. The beach is 3 kilometres long and often crowded in the middle part during high season. Patong is where the tourism boom in Phuket started, and the beach itself is stunning. So don’t expect to have this wide white-sandy beach to yourself. It gets particularly crowded around sunset. You can rent beach chairs and umbrellas, get a tan, go for a swim in the sea, do water sports, and watch people.
Patong Beach
The northern part of the beach is more beautiful and a lot less busy. In this part of Patong, there are fewer people and more parking, plenty of local food and fruit vendors to enjoy. Water is also bluer during high season, and there are plenty of palm trees to sit under.
The water at the southern end is not always as clear as in the north, because below a large bridge, a river flows into the sea. Under the bridge is a surprisingly old-fashioned fishermen village, where most longtail boats are parked when not in use.
Patong Beach
Once upon a time, it was just a small fishing village filled with traditional Thai houses and huts. Backpackers first discovered this sleepy village with a stunning beach in the 1960s and 70s, but it wasn’t really until a decade later that the government decided to transform Patong into a tourist destination. Patong became a massive hit among Europeans, and especially Scandinavians. Phuket became so popular among the Swedes that for a while Phuket was referred to as “Little Sweden.”
Patong Beach
Patong Beach is the true heart of Phuket, and what makes it so attractive to many, is often what other people hate most about it. Patong is big, bold, crowded, bright and loud. And yet millions of people flock here every year like flies on honey. The original success and popularity of Patong beach mostly rotate around two things: a fantastic beach and a legendary wild nightlife. The rest? Don’t blind yourself: shopping, dining, and foot massage are just the cherry on the cake.
Patong Beach, Phuket
Tips to the Traveler :
1) Forget about parking your car anywhere around there, and even parking your motorbike can be a problem.
2) If you love water sports and don’t mind the crowds then Patong beach might be just what you are looking for.
3) If you want to experience the crazy party side of Phuket or have a night’s out, then, by all means, come to Patong on an evening trip or stay a night or two.
4) The key to full enjoyment of the place is to pace yourself, drink lots of water and learn the meaning of ‘mai pen rai’ – which translates roughly to ‘It doesn’t matter’ or ‘Don’t worry, be happy’.
Basking everything with a warm afterglow, it feels as if the clock suddenly turned to dusk. The orange hues scattered over the sea highlighting the scarlet water with its vivid colours growing to an intensity never seen before. At Phra Nang cave beach, everyone of us looked up at this scarlet sky. Though it lasted for a few minutes, the frames got frozen in our memory.
Phra Nang Cave
With soft sand and clear shallow water that’s just perfect for swimming and this is just the type of beach you would want to relax in when you want to get away from the crowd. A stone’s throw away from the islands of Koh Rang Nok and Khai Nai, the beach is set against a backdrop of picturesque limestone cliffs and offers a stunning view of Krabi.
Phra Nang Cave
One of the reasons that locals visit the beach is the Princess Cave (Tham Phra Nang Nok) —dedicated to the Goddess of fertility. The cave has countless phalluses statues that locals give offerings of incense and flowers.
Koh Rang Nok and Nai
With duvet-soft sand, clear shallow water for safe swimming, two small islands (Koh Rang Nok and Nai), coral reef, and caves, Ao Phra Nang has all the ingredients of a perfect beach. Phra Nang Beach (not to be confused with nearby Ao Nang) is the southern strip of sand in Railay Bay. With 450 metres in length, and reachable in a mere 20-minute long-tail boat trip directly from Ao Nang, or by foot from Railay East.
Phra Nang Cave
This cave has a story behind it, the princess of this island Phra Nang who lived out her life in the cave waiting for her future husband but he never returned from his ventures on sea. It is believed that the spirit of Phra nang, the Princess Goddess, resides in the wooden penises on the coastline. To ensure safe return from fishing, offerings in the form of male genitalia are made by the locals, which present a truly colorful site.
Tips to the Travelers :
1. Since the beach faces the west, it becomes an ideal spot to watch the setting sun against the stunning backdrop of the tall limestone cliffs.
2. Make a plan to visit the beach in the morning, as traveling to the beach during mid-day will be hot and tiresome.
3. Despite the fact that it is reachable only by boat, this area offers a plethora of recreational activities.
4. The area possesses some of the best scuba-diving sites in the world, with certified instruction courses offered on site.
5. The best way to experience the beach is to arrive here early in the morning before the day trippers reach.
Ao Nammao Pier is located at the southern end of a small town called Ban Ao Nammao. This pier in Krabi Province is the departure point for longtail boats to Railay Beach. Longtail boats are long thin wooden boats with a motor driven propeller which have been traditionally used by fishermen in Southern Thailand. These small boats are now frequently used for short distance water taxi services in coastal areas of Thailand.
Ao Nammao Pier, Krabi
Ao Nammao Pier is a very small floating pier used exclusively by small boats as the connection point between Railway Beach and the rest of Krabi Province. The steep hills around Railay make it inaccessible by car so the only way in or out of Railay is by water or a long difficult walk and climb through the jungle. There are direct minivan and bus services which pick up and drop off customers on their way to and from Railay Beach. Several travel companies operate direct bus and ferry services from this pier to the islands in the Gulf of Thailand.
Ao Nammao Pier, Krabi
There is a restaurant with a toilet at Ao Nammao Pier, ticket booth for trips to Railay Beach and a covered seating area for customers to wait for the next departure. There are also several resorts, convenience stores and more restaurants within easy walking distance if you need to spend the night there because you missed the last boat to Railay Beach.
Railay Beach Pier
Ao Nam Mao is a hardly developed area located between Railay and Krabi Town. In peak season, it offers a serene atmosphere far from crowds and hosts enough attractions and facilities to please any vacationers.
Towards Railay Beach
The eastern and northern sides of Ao Nammao Pier are covered with mangrove forests, which explains the colours of the sand and of the waters (greenish) lapping the shore. It gives the opportunity to take cool trips by sea kayak through this pristine and lush environment, home to a great number of wild animal species (crab-eating macaques, aigrettes, mudskippers, and more). These overgrown bushes of mangroves make for perfect hammock hanging spots – string one up and swing the day away with a book and a beer.
Ao Nammao Pier
It’s relatively easy to reach from Krabi Town or Ao Nang (a scooter or car is best, but a songthaew will get you close enough for a 10-minute walk). It’s isolated from tourists and touristy stuff – the closest convenience store is a couple of kilometers away. The Old Ao Nammao Pier also called Nam Mao Pier 1.
Ao Nammao Pier
Tips to the Travelers :
1) For a private trip you have to pay 400 bhat to the National Park Ranger’s as entrance fee.
2) If you’re heading there alone you’ll have to bring your own snorkelling equipment. Those can be picked up relatively cheaply from the stores around Ao Nang beach prior to departing on the boat, and having your own set is bound to serve you well throughout your trip to Krabi.
3) Please carry your drinking water and energy bar along with sunglasses and sunscreen.
Koh Poda is one the most popular islands in the Krabi archipelago. Situated about 6 kilometres from the mainland beach of Ao Nang, Koh Poda is only accessible by boat. Koh Poda — a beautiful island that’s almost completely undeveloped, with only clear seas and soft white sand to keep you busy. Most popular way to see the island is as part of an island tour. Island tours usually take in Poda island, Koh Gai — which is shaped like a chicken, hence its name, as “gai” means chicken in Thai — Railay beach and four or five other islands depending on the tour itself.
Poda Island
A paradise with white sand and turquoise colored water. A dream to all travelers! Koh Poda is covered with palm and pine trees and almost entirely encircled by a soft white sand beach, it is every inch the stunning tropical getaway. A coral reef lies about 20 metres from the beach with a variety of sea life. The irresistible combination of excellent snorkeling, scenery and soft sand make the island a popular choice with snorkelers and sea kayakers, but surprisingly, it’s not crowded in the evening.
Poda Island
At around a kilometre in diameter, it’s not hard to traverse the entire island and pick your favourite spot. Arguably the most beautiful view from the island can be enjoyed from the northern shores. From the beach, there’s a fantastic view of a limestone karst standing stretching up out of the sea, the image of which is almost always the one used to sell Poda island to tourists. As well as having soft, sandy beaches, the center of the island is a mixture of pine trees and palm trees, providing some much-needed shelter from the blazing sun as well as adding those finishing touches of greenery that help to make the island just that little more irresistible.
Poda Island
Apart from the beaches in the east and the north, in the middle of the cape backed by limestone mountains in the west is also a small and very peaceful bay. In the middle of Koh Poda, there is a pathway to the back beach which will also pass the one and only resort of the island, Poda Island Resort. The northern beach of Koh Poda extends further from the eastern beach. In the middle of the sea there is a small limestone-based island which is a unique feature of Koh Poda. The eastern beach of Koh Poda is the longest one; it is nice for swimming and sunbathing, as well as taking a stroll as far as the small bay on the western side of the island.
Poda Island
It’s not hard to see why it’s such a popular island. Surrounded on all sides by soft, white sand and with glistening, extremely-clear water, it certainly checks all the boxes. The water is perfect for swimming and snorkeling, with a coral reef not far from the island where a multitude of colourful fish and corals can be spotted. The calm, clear waters of Poda island also make it a great place to enjoy a spot of kayaking, which are often included in tours but can also be rented from vendors on the island itself.
Poda Island
Tips to the Travelers :
1) Koh Poda is part of all 4 island trips or 7 island trips or sunset trips. Best time to visit is before 10 am or after 4 pm and watch the sunset from here.
2) For a private trip you have to pay 400 bhat to the National Park Ranger’s as entrance fee.

5) Best visit in the rainy season – it’s quieter, cheaper and you may even feel like you’re on a deserted tropical island.
Based on the southern part of Poda and Tup islands, Kai Island is also popularly known as Poda Nuk Island or Hua Khawan Island. The rooster shaped rock on the island is a symbol of the beautiful Krabi Sea. The pleasant climate and the harmonious ambiance, fascinating coral reefs and white sandy beaches are key attractions of this chicken island.
Chicken Island
Unfortunately, you can’t walk around the island since there will be only water and rocks at some point. The rock that looks like a chicken head (the reason why the island is called Chicken Island) is not possible to be seen from the island itself. The white sandy beach of Chicken Island is also unique. For many, it is one of the most beautiful beaches in Krabi. Walking along the beach, you will find some small trees and quiet shady places, perfect if you want to relax for a few hours.
Chicken Island
What makes this spot so different from the other islands around Krabi is witnessed on low tide when a sandbar emerges from the water. This sandbar connects Chicken island to the two smaller islands of Koh Mor and Tup in effect making the three islands become one.
Chicken Island
It is a perfect blend of dense vegetation on one side and turquoise blue waters and sandy beaches on the other. For all the adventure seekers it is a great location to enjoy swimming, scuba diving, and snorkeling. With stunning beauty and mesmerizing views of the Krabi coastlines, this is one of the pictorial locations and comes in the category of tourist places to visit in Krabi.
Tips to the Travelers :

One of the most famous offshore islands around Krabi, this stunning island is also known as Tub Island, Koh Tap or Koh Thap. Koh Tup and Koh Mor are two islands located in the Krabi archipelago and they are accessible to each other just by walking across a sandbar. It is also called a Miracle beach because at low tide a sandbar that resembles the letter Y emerges from the water linking it to 2 other Islands. The mesmerizing vibes of the parting of the sea are something that makes this place all the more popular among tourists from all over the world.
Koh Tup and Koh Mor
A sandbar emerges during low tides connecting the Chicken Island to Koh Mur and Tup on left and right respectively. It is an incredible feeling to walk over this and bar as the water is shallow and provides a picturesque moment. Tup Island does not support the availability of any water sports, thus, this place is highly recommended to people who are looking for some calm moments.
Koh Tup and Koh Mor
Tup Island also known as, Koh Tap or Koh Thap is one of the most popular offshore islands around Krabi for day trips and tours. Most island hopping tours come here to witness and photograph the amazing parting of the seas. Tup is much smaller than the other islands in the group, however it has a nice beach and the waters that surround it provide an excellent spot for snorkeling with an abundance of tropical fish.
