Karon view point is also known locally as ‘Khao Saam Haad’ which literally means the Hills of three beaches, and there is a reason why! Basically from the view point you get to see the three most beautiful beaches of Phuket namely Kata Noi, Kata Yai and Karon. Although it is known as Karon view point – this place is located a little afar from the Karon beaches. And actually located near to the Kata Beach. Travelers come here to appreciate the picture of perfect beauty from the top of the hill.
Karon Viewpoint has two things that make it a tropical paradise — lush rain forest and sandy beach meeting an ocean. In short, it is the view that makes Karon Viewpoint a favourite with the tourists and the locals alike. The islands off Kata float out in the Andaman Sea and this is a great spot to snap a photo of everything Phuket’s landscape is about, much to the envy of everyone back home.
The closest and perhaps the smallest beach near Karon view point is Kata Noi Beach. The island of ‘Koh Poo’ or the crab island is also in the near vicinity of Karon view point. Normally Karon view point is just a photo stop for the travelers while onward to the famous Promthep Cafe or Windmill which presents itself as an irresistible spot for the travelers looking for a perfect sunset view.

Tips to the Traveler :
1) There’s plenty of parking at the Karon Viewpoint and it’s on the road between Kata and Nai Harn beach. Kata itself is just a ten-minute drive away and it’s the same distance to Nai Harn so a taxi or tuk tuk doesn’t cost too much.
2) There’s a place to get food and a gazebo with tables and chairs in the shade, but prices are high and options are limited, so you might want to bring your own food and water.
3) As with any beautiful spot, it is the crowd that spoils the experience too. Tour buses line up the lane to the viewpoint and hoards of tourists gather around to snap a few photos. So use your skill and click good pictures in the crowd or come again in the evening after watching sunset when this place is less crowded.
4) The view to the north of the lookout is where you’ll snap the idyllic picture of Phuket, with the Andaman Sea lapping at white sanded beaches and little islands castaway off the shore.
